In Hyderabad, a water tank holds the body of a man that has been decomposed.

Hyderabad, Dec 8, 2008 : On Tuesday, a highly decayed body of a man was discovered in Hyderabad’s overhead public water tank.The police identified it on Wednesday.
After residents complained about foul-smelling drinking water, staff from the Hyderabad Metropolitan Water Supply & Sewerage Board began cleaning the tank at Risalagadda in Ramnagar’s municipal division.Some residents complained that the water contained small pieces of flesh.

The staff discovered a human body inside the tank during cleaning.They alerted higher-ups who then informed the police.The Greater Hyderabad Municipal Commissioner (GHMC), Disaster Response Force (DRF), pulled the remains out of the tank on Tuesday evening and sent them for autopsy.

Musheerabad police station registered a case.

Police officers began investigating and identified the body based on the pair of slippers that were found in the tank.

Police say the body belongs to Kishore, a resident in Ambedkar Nagar, Chikkadpally.He has been missing for 15 days.Police also received a missing complaint.

A police officer stated that they were trying to determine if the man fell into the tank accidentally or committed suicide by jumping in it.

The overhead tank supplies drinking water to Shivsthanpur and other nearby areas, including Hari Nagar, SRK Nagar and Hari Nagar.The tank was shut down by authorities after the body was recovered.

Musheerabad MLA Mutha Gopal visited this area and assured residents that alternative arrangements will be made for them to get drinking water.
