Maha’s MGL increases gas prices for the third time in six weeks (Lead).

Mumbai, Nov 26 : The Mahanagar Gas Ltd has increased the prices for CNG and PNG starting Friday at midnight (November 26/27), an official statedCNG basic prices are increased by Rs 3.

06/kg, and domestic PNG by a whopping Rs 2.26/SCM in the Mumbai Metropolitan Region.Accordingly, the all-inclusive CNG prices for vehicles will rise from Rs 57.54/kg up to Rs 61.50/kg.The home use PNG will be Rs 36.50/SCM in a single slab, stated an MGL spokesperson.The new hike will be effective in six weeks following October 14, and will affect the budgets of approximately 1.60 million PNG consumers as well as over 800,000 CNG customers who use gas-powered vehicles.The MGL had increased rates twice in Octobers first week, just before the festive season.

It has justified the price increases to make up for the shortage in domestic gas allocation.To cater to growing domestic CNG customers, it is purchasing higher-priced PNG (imported RNGNG).

The spokesperson also stated that the MGLs input gas costs have increased due to the significant increase in natural gas prices on the international market.The MGL announced the latest price increases to partially offset the rise in gas input costs.
