Mumbai 6 August : In a different shocking incident woman was brutally raped by a gang in Maharashtra’s Bhandara which sparked an escalating political conflict between the ruling Eknath Shinde-Devendra-Fadnavis regime and the opposition Maha Vikas Aghadi.According to police the victim, who is approximately 35, was assaulted sexually between the 30th of July and 2nd August at Kanhadmoh village, which is located under the supervision of the Kardha police station in Bhandara district.
She was thrown away by attackers near the highway.locals noticed her naked , bleeding heavily from severe injuries and alerted the police.
The police took her to an emergency hospital in Bhandara however, as her wounds were severe, she was shifted to the Nagpur government hospital where she was treated for a surgical procedure.However her condition is critical.
The chairperson of Maharashtra State Commission for Women, Rupali, took serious note of this incident and other leaders compared it with the decade-old Nirbhaya incident of Delhi.
After a ruckus and a scuffle, the Chief Minister Eknath Shinde has appointed an Special Investigation Team (SIT) headed by a female IPS officer to investigate the incident which he called “a grave and horrific incident”.
According to the preliminary police investigation three people were involved in the alleged crime of which two have been identified and questioned The specifics of which are not yet available.
The Bhandara Police are searching the CCTV footages from the highway Bhandara-Gondiya as well as conducting a manhunt to find one or more individuals who could be associated in the crime in the district and in the surrounding areas.
