He is a staunch swayayamsevak for more than three decades and is a four-term BJP Corporator as well as a former Deputy Mayor.

Bawankule was denied an Assembly ticket in the 2019 polls at the last minute. He is now aiming to make a comeback to parliament.

Bawankule, who is close to Union Minister Nitin Gadkari as well as Fadnavis in the 2019 polls, is an OBC face.
Even though a rejected ticket was on the forefront of OBC reservation.

Bhoyar, a member of a dedicated RSS family is a homeopath and his maternal uncle Dr Vilas Dagre is close to the RSS hierarchy. He was reportedly angry at the BJP leadership for not providing opportunities for growth within the cadre.
