After apparently collapsing in the enclosure, one of the zebras suffered serious internal injuries to his neck and head.

The incident occurred when the three new zebras suddenly moved and began running inside the enclosure.

“It is likely that the sudden movement caused the zebras to run into an object or fence within the enclosure.

One of them suffered serious injuries and fell.Brijendra Yadav, zoo veterinarian, said that cardio respiratory failure was the cause of death after the post-mortem.

The incident occurred at a time when Lucknow Zoo was celebrating its centenary.

According to wildlife experts sudden outbursts of excitement and running are quite common in zebras.

They are more likely to get hurt, go into shock, or have heart attacks.

Habitat change is another common factor.

“For the other two prisoners, we are taking strict care for any future incident,” stated the director of the zoo.

The zoo had two zebra enclosures. The two remaining zebras were moved to the other enclosure. They are doing well.Yadav stated, “We will ensure there’s minimal disturbance and limited human interaction between the two until they fully adapt to the environment.”

The zebras were brought from Israel via New Delhi. They were then given a mixture gram, bran, grass, and water thrice daily.

The zoo kept the three inmates in quarantine until they were ready to be released for public viewing.

Since the 2015 death of Bankit, the zebra enclosure had been left empty.
