LS to discuss Bill’s request for an extension of CBI and ED director’s tenure

New Delhi, Dec 8, 2018 : Wednesdays government will attempt to pass Bills that have been submitted to the Lok Sabha.

The Lok Sabha is likely to pass the two Bills, The Central Vigilance Commission Amendment Bill, 2021 and The Delhi Special Police Establishment Amendment Bill, 2021.

These Bills extend the tenure of Enforcement Directorate (ED), and Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI), respectively, for up to five yearsBoth bills were introduced in the Lower House last Wednesday.The Lok Sabha is likely to host a discussion on climate change, and other related issues.

Opposing the ordinance, members of the opposition will propose a resolution that this House disapproves the Central Vigilance Commission Amendment Ordinance, 2021, and The Delhi Special Police Establishment Amendment Bill, 2021.Dr Jitendra Singh, Union Minister, will move the Bills to amend the Central Vigilance Commission Act 2003 and the Delhi Special Police Establishment Act 1946.

He will also move for the Bills to be passed.Union Minister Gajendra Singh Shekhawat will move for the following amendments to the Dam Safety Bill, 2019, by Rajya Sabha to provide for surveillance and inspection of dams for the prevention of dam failure-related disasters and to provide an institutional mechanism for their safe functioning and any matters related thereto or incident thereto.

He will propose that the Rajya Sabha amends be accepted.The Lok Sabha passed the Dam Safety Bill 2019, on August 2, 2019, and sent it to the Rajya Sabha, for its approval.
