It is a matter to be proud that Prime Minister NarendraModi has advocated for conservation of the climate at all international forums.

Kanimozhi, a DMK member, started the discussion by citing the recent flooding in south India and how Chennai was again affected.

She also stressed the need for the government to take action on climate change adaptation and mitigation.

Sanjay Jaiswal, BJP’s chief spokesperson, stated that Modi had taken a number of steps in this direction shortly after he assumed office in 2014.

He also voiced his concerns at all international forums. He said that even at the Glasgow summit, Boris Johnson, British Prime Minister, had been widely praised for his proactive role in combating climate change.

Adhir Ranjan Chowdhury, Leader of Congress, said that it was time to think globally and act locally.India has the lowest emission rate at five percent, which is lower than other countries in the world. However, climate change was “the most under-reported failing of the Modi government.” He said that the assault on climate started as soon as Modi’s government was in power in 2014.

Kakoli Ghosh Dietidar, Trinamool Congress, stated that this is an important topic for all human beings.

“In India, we can’t wear a mask every day.She said that while some rich people may use air fresheners in their rooms, others cannot. They are forced to inhale polluted air.

She also stated that it was wrong to blame farmers for burning stubble, as they have been doing this for centuries.”We should first teach them alternative ways.”

She pointed out that unplanned development, which is not in line with sustainable development goals, is causing Climate Change.

“The area around Sunderban in Bengal is constantly at risk as the Ganga water level is rising and the sea level rising due to melting Antarctica ice.

“We must think about the issues. We need electric vehicles to reduce carbon emissions.

In recent years, the frequency of cyclones has increased significantly.

“We need renewable energy because Denmark has 100 percent renewable electricity.

She said that solar energy could be a significant replacement for fossil fuels, but 80 percent of India’s energy comes from it.

She suggested that MPLAD funds could be used to install solar panels in rural areas, hospitals, and other locations. The government should amend the law so that this is possible.

Janata Dal-United’s Dileswar Kamait stated that while unplanned urban development can have an impact on climate change, it is more evident in India.

He said that around 69 lakh trees have been removed in recent years for infra-related projects.

Ritesh Pandey, a member of the BSP, stated that we must be serious about climate change mitigation and economic development and reduce our dependence upon fossil fuels.
