New Delhi, Dec 8, 2008 : .Seven Indian Police Service (IPS), officers from the Delhi Police were transferred to new responsibilities in a major reshuffle.
An official order was read here on Wednesday. Lieutenant Governor Anil Baijal issued an order allowing seven police officers to be transferred to different departments.
They were between the ranks of joint commissary of police (Joint CPs), and deputy commissar of police (DCP).Chhaya Sharma (in 1999) was appointed joint commissioner of police in EOW.Vivek Kishore (in 1999) will be Joint CP in Traffic Department.
Notably, Chhaya Sharma was the same officer who conducted the investigation into the 2012 Nirbhaya Gangrape case.
Veenu Bansal, an IPS officer, has been appointed additional commissioner of police (northern region).Ravindra Kumar Pandey is an IPS officer from 2004 and has been given additional responsibility for general administration.
Rajneesh Gupta’s position was changed from Additional CP (general administrative) to Additional CP Special Branch.Sanjay Kumar Tyagi (2008-batch IPS officer) was previously posted as DCP Security.
He has been promoted to DCP (IGI Airport).
Transfers are part of a normal process.
These rejigs aim to increase transparency and accountability within the system.
Many senior officers of the Delhi Police were transferred between September and October.
In just two months, more than 50 senior officers of the Indian Police Services were assigned new assignments.
