Legends League Cricket: Buchanan, Rajput named coaches for benefit match at Eden Gardens

New Delhi, Sep 13 : Former World Cup champion Australian coach John Buchanan and Lalchand Rajput have been appointed as coaches of India Maharajas as well as World Giants respectively for the benefit match of Legends League Cricket at the Eden Gardens Stadium in Kolkata on the 16th of September.
A benefit match will begin the season of the league in India for the first time.

The proceeds of the match will be donated to Kapil Dev’s Khushii Foundation, which supports girl education for children.

Awarded the title of one of the best coaches in the world, Buchanan had guided Australia to many successes, including winning the ODI World Cup twice, the first Champions Trophy triumph in 2006 and Ashes dominance in the early 2000s.

Rajput on contrary, is an extremely well-known name in the cricketing scene.Former India batsman has been successful in coaching international teams such as Afghanistan as well as Zimbabwe.

He was also coach of the Indian team who took home the historic T20 World Cup in 2007.

Rajput and Buchanan will also be coaches for LNJ Bhilwara Kings and Manipal Tigers respectively in the league.

India Maharajas will lead by Virender Sehwag, while the South African great Jacques Kallis will be the captain of Team World Giants.

Legendary cricketers from 10 nations will be watching in action Sehwag’s Gujarat Giants and Gautam Gambhir’s India Capitals will lock horns in the league’s opener in Kolkata on 17 September.

Manipal Tigers and Bhilwara Kings will also be part of the four-team league.

Lucknow, New Delhi, Cuttack and Jodhpur are the other locations for the upcoming season of Legends League Cricket, which will be played until 5 October.
