Legendary player lost his mother

Legendary chess player Viswanathan Anands mother Sushila Viswanathan has passed away at the age of 79 in Chennai today.

She leaves behind her husband K Viswanathan, daughter and two sons.

She breathed her last while sleeping at home.Her last rites will be performed tomorrow at 10 am at Besant Nagar crematorium in Chennai.

Sushila hailed from a family of lawyers who played chess.Sushilas contribution to Anands life is substantial as she laid strong foundation to Anands Chess career.

Besides teaching Anand the basic moves, she played and nurtured him into a champion and was instrumental in his success.It is difficult to say whether Anand would have become a world champion if Susheela had not found the talent in him and nursed his career along All India Chess Federation expressed condolences on the demise of Sushila, lauding her dedicated efforts in making Anand a Champion chess player.
