Silchar, Nov 28, : The Border Security Force (BSF), and Assam Police seized large quantities of heroin and synthetic drugs in the state’s Karimganj District and arrested four drug peddlers.Officials said on Sunday.A spokesperson for the BSF said that troopers from the 134 Battalion and police officers searched Samsun Noor’s house at Purba Balia village, under Nilam Bazar, Saturday night.They seized 26 packets containing 2,59,000.00 Yaba tablets, valued at Rs 12.96 Crore.
Noor was taken into custody and one vehicle seized.
The police and the BSF also recovered 45 small cases containing 605 grams of heroin in the same area.
They were seized by the police on Saturday.
Three drug peddlers were detained and one vehicle was seized.
Officials believe that the drugs were smuggled in from Myanmar.
Methamphetamine tablets are also known as Yaba, ‘Party tablets’, or ‘WY (World is Yours) and are misused by youths in Bangladesh, India, and neighboring countries.
Officials stated that the drugs, including the addictive methamphetamine, are a mixture of methamphetamine, caffeine, and other contraband.They were also often smuggled from Myanmar, which shares 1,643 km unfenced border with four northeastern States of Nagaland, Arunachal Pradesh and Manipur.
