Alert issued by La Nina for East Australia

Canberra, November 23, : Australias Bureau of Meteorology announced Tuesday that there has been a La Nina phenomenon in the tropical Pacific.

This will spell trouble for large parts of Australias east coastAccording to Xinhua, the BoM climate modeling suggested that this event could last until Marchs beginning in Australia.

La Nina, which means "the girl", in Spanish is a weather phenomenon that happens every few years.Xinhua was informed by Milton Speer, University of Technology Sydney (UTS), that the University of Technology Sydneys extreme weather expert said the news was not surprising given the kind of weather Australia had been experiencing.

Some parts of New South Wales, Queensland, and Victoria are already experiencing heavy rains.The BoM announced that the October rainfall levels had been 8 percent above the normal.

Additionally, Cyclone Paddy was the BoMs first tropical storm.It struck the northwest coast of Australia, off Christmas Island.

Speer stated to Xinhua, that the rising ocean temperatures in Australias northern region was a sign of the coming event "The sea surface temperatures have been quite anomalous across Australias top.Speer stated that Queenslanders and NSW residents should be prepared for heavy rainfall and thunderstorms all summer.Additionally, he said that rising temperatures could lead to extreme weather in Australia.

Climate change can be explained by the rising oceans, especially in the Tropic Equatorial regions.There seems to be more moisture available.

The last significant La Nina event in Australia was recorded between 2010 and 2012.It caused widespread flooding and some of the most wettest years on record.
