Dakshina Kannada : , Tuesday, November 30, 2012: A local court convicted a man of kidnapping and sexually assaulting a minor girl from this Karnataka region. Irfan (28), a Mangaluru taluk resident, was also fined Rs 15,000 for the incident that took place in 2014.
The accused kidnapped the college-going minor girl and kept her in a lodge, where he sexually assaulted her.The accused had called the girl and tried to force her to marry him.
The victim was on her way to Natikal village to take her examination.He took her to Chikkamagaluru lodge to kidnap her.He took her to a lodge in Chikkamagaluru and locked her up.He threatened to kill her if the incident was revealed to anyone.
The girl’s parents had reported the matter to Ullal Police who arrested Irfan.They also filed a charge sheet under the Protection of Children from Sexual Offences Act (POCSO).
Judge Savithri Bhahat issued the order of punishment, and C.Venkataramanaswamy, the public prosecutor, argued for the victim.
