K’taka increases daily Covid test target

In response to reports of Covid-19 cluster cases in Dharwad and Mysuru, the Karnataka government decided to increase daily Covid testing to 60,000 from 80,000On Saturday night, the Karnataka government issued a circular in this matter.

The health department has been informed to continue targeted testing for ILI, SARI, and contacts of positive cases.It has also been asked for random testing of students, teachers at colleges and high schools, staff of restaurants and hotels, shopkeepers in malls, shopkeepers on markets, catering staff and delivery personnel, factory personnel and factory personnel.

A revised target also mandates a daily increase in BBMP areas of Bengaluru of 5,000 and 15,000 in other districts.It is also recommended that up to 50% of the daily target samples be taken from the district headquarters.The rest should come from rural areas.
