Residents gathered on the spot after Saturdays incident and demanded that police take action to stop "such conversion bids in the future" or they would protest.Police say that the group opposed distribution of books.
The group also claimed that Chintamani residents gathered in a house to perform religious conversions.Police in Srinivasapura registered a case and are currently investigating.
The police have so far not taken any arrests.
The ruling Bharatiya Janata Party is all set to table new law banning forceful religious conversions in the state which is expected to create furore in assembly.mka/pgh
