Bengaluru : November 18th, 2008 - The Karnataka High Court requested a report on the dropping of the cases against sitting MLAs or MPsOn Wednesday, the court directed the Registrar general to contact the Special Court for Peoples Representatives for information about how many cases against sitting or former MPs/MLAs were withdrawn between September 16th 2020 and now.
Chief Justice Ritu Rajawasthi headed the bench that examined the PIL petition regarding the criminal case against former and sitting legislators.Aditya Sondhi was an Amicus Curiae, which is someone who assists a court in providing information and insight about a case.
She informed the bench that the High Court had on August 26 ordered that the government submit information concerning the withdrawal of cases against legislators.The Supreme Court also ordered the Registrar General, he stated, to obtain information about any pending cases against MPs or MLAs after September 16, 2020.
The High Court issued a directive for information about the pending or withdrawal of criminal charges against leaders within the state.The matter was remanded to the court for January 17, 2022.mka/dpb #Ktaka #drawal #criminal #MLAs.
