K’taka: 15 students in nursing from Kerala test positive for Covid

Bengaluru, Nov 30, : Officials in Tumakuru District, Karnataka issued a ‘high alert’ Tuesday after 15 students studying nursing from Kerala tested positive for Covid-19.
All 15 people were taken to a quarantine center and their swabs sent to Bengaluru for further testing, District Commissioner Y.S.Patil said.

The students were from Siddaganga and Vadiraj nursing institutions in Tumakuru.

The Health Department is concerned about the increasing number of clusters in the state.

To stop the spread of the virus, the state government has taken stringent measures in Maharashtra and Kerala along their borders.

Sudhakar, Health Minister, chaired a high level meeting on Tuesday to discuss the steps needed to address the situation following the discovery of Omicron, the new Covid variant.

Patil stated that students over 18 years old must have the vaccine jab.To be admitted to the class, students will need to have taken at least one dose.This circular has also been published.

Dharwad medical school also reported more than 280 cases.

Authorities have breathed a sigh relief that the infection didn’t spread to the residential areas of campus.
