Mumbai 23rd August : Kishore Bhanushali, who is a close resemblance of the late Bollywood actor Dev Anand, says that he had to fight to gain the opportunities in the industry of entertainment due to of his likeness to the late actor.The actor can currently be appearing as Commissioner Resham Pal Singh in “Bhabiji Ghar par Hai’.
He states: “I had to struggle to find work.Many people won’t believe me but I was denied many opportunities to perform due to the fact of being a copy of Dev Sahab.
However, I never gave up on the idea of trying.I have always believed that if there’s a desire there is an opportunity.So I never stopped and gradually things started to turn out in my favor.”
Kishore recounts his very first encounter with the actor ‘Guide’ and tells us: “I was very young when I first met Dev Anand Sir and told him about my passion in acting.He was impressed and he recommended that I finish my studies before I entered the world.My admiration for him as well as my love for acting inspired me to keep going.”
“Today I’m performing a 3-hour stand-up comedy show “Kishore Ki Awaaz Dev ka Andaaz’ in which, along with performing comedy, I sing.I’ve been in the show business for more than 30 years and due to Dev Ji, I managed to establish an impact on the industry.”
The ‘Hum Hai Khalnayak fame also reveals how he was able to be a part of the popular sitcom “Bhabiji Ghar Par Hai”.He says: “My journey with Bhabiji Ghar Par Hai began through the kindness of Aasif Sheikh who I’ve been with for a long time and a very dear friend.”
“He brought me in contact with Shashank Bali director of the show to play various characters in the show.Shashank Ji immediately made me an Anita Bhabi’s (Saumya Tandon) uncle for a short time after which I got an offer for the role of the commissioner, Resham Pal Singh in the show.
“Post that I also got an offer to be cast in “Happu Ki Ultan Paltan’ in 2019.Then, I’m doing two shows with the same character and I am extremely happy.”
He states: “I never intended to pursue a career in acting.I believe that I was destined to manage my family’s small business.However, when I was a child I remember a young teenager telling me I resembled Dev Anand.”
“I did not know who he was as, at the time we knew Rajesh Khanna Ji as a famous actor.Then just out of interest, I went to see one of his films, ‘Yeh-Gulistan Hamara”, for the first time.Dev Anand.”
“I remember watching the film in my school break and then went to see “Jewel Thief’ and slowly realized that yes, I do look like him.”
“Then I began to imitate him standing in the front of the mirror, and it’s been 50 years since my name is linked to his and the people recognize me as the doppelganger of Dev Anand,” he concludes.
