Thiruvananthapuram 10th Sep : The body of an unidentified youth, who was reported missing following an overturned snake boat in the Kerala’s Pamba river on Saturday, was retrieved by divers and rescue teams on the weekend.The deceased has been identified as a 28-year-old Vineesh who was who was a resident of Cherukol in Alappuzha district.
In the past, the body of another young person was identified as 17-year-old Adidevan, an 11th grade student was recovered from the Pamba river by Search and Rescue teams.
Another person is believed to be missing, and the identity of this person is still to be determined.
The heavy undercurrent in Pamba river as a result of the incessant rains in the last few days, that led to the turning of the boat.This making rescue mission difficult.
Locals have also reported that they saw children playing in the boat, which could have caused the tumbling of the boat.
Chengannur MLA, former Minister Saji Cherian, told in the media that scuba divers and firefighters department and police are working together in the rescue and search mission in search of a further person who is believed to be missing.
Aranmula Panchayat president Vijayamma told the media that 50 people were in the boat at the time it fell.
The frequent rainfalls in the central regions of Kerala have resulted in a an increase in the levels of water in the majority of the rivers.
