Kenya reaches 10mn Covid-19 vaccine target prior to New Year’s Eve

Nairobi, January 1, : The Kenyan Ministry of Health announced that it has vaccinated over 10 million people. This is a goal it set to achieve before 2021.

This is after 2,791 additional cases had been reported on Thursday using a random sample of 9,384, Xinhua reported. This vaccination comes as the nation of east Africa is struggling with an increase in confirmed Covid-19 cases due to the Omicron variant.

Kenyans have increased vaccination and are fighting vaccine hesitancy. They also deny some services to unvaccinated people. On Friday, President Uhuru Kenyatta announced that the government will begin to give booster doses starting January 1, 2022 to fully-vaccinated people to prevent them getting the new variant.
