Bengaluru : , Nov 18, 2018 : .The Karnataka Pre-University Board postponed the midterm board exams for students in class 12, citing stiff opposition from parents and student organizations.Midterm board exams will be conducted between December 13-24.The exams had been scheduled for Nov 29, but they were moved to December 13.
Fearing a third round of Covid-19, the department announced that midterm exams would be held.Due to the pandemic, annual exams were cancelled.
Based on the results of midterm exams, and taking into account SSLC (class 10) scores, these results were published.
Students, parents and teachers resisted the decision, as did student organizations, teacher organisations, students and teachers.
Students complained about incompletion and other issues that could affect their performance.
Teachers were instructed by the department to read and complete the syllabus.
The department also instructed them to attend one-hour extra classes, especially for students in the science stream.
College Principals have been responsible for evaluating answer papers.
Teaching fraternity also provides feedback to the department on syllabus matters.
Also, the department gave directions to PU college managers to update students’ attendance records and test results.
The department has given it instructions to evaluate midterm exam answer papers by December 31, and to submit reports to them.
