Kannada Film Industry plans to expand its pan-India presence in 2022

M.K.AshokBengaluru : December 30, 2013 - The Kannada film industry is poised to follow in Tollywoods footsteps and make a mark in Indias pan-Indian market this year.

Kannada films used to be mainly festival favourites and arthouse films.

But with the success of KGF-1, Sandalwood is now able to claim that it has made its way onto the national screens.To give the industry the push it needs, the sequel, "KGF-2", is scheduled to release in July 2013.

The second half of 1900s saw the rise in fame for the director G.V.Iyer, M.S.M.S.Iyer, Girish Karanth, B.V.Karanth, and Girish Kasaravalli were the headlines.The Kannada film industry was compared to Tollywood (Telugu), Kollywood, and Mollywood in terms of market penetration, budgets and content.

It has received a fresh lease of life thanks to the star of KGF-1, Yash.On various platforms, the actor spoke out about Kannadas film industry and how he set himself a challenge to show that it is on par with other languages.

The Kannada film industry was hit hard by the sudden death of its star, Puneeth Rajkumar on October 29, 2009.The entire state was in mourning after the death of its beloved star.

Producers of the movie "Bajarangi" had to deal with huge financial losses.However, the industry managed to get box office numbers ringing once more as huge crowds welcomed "Kotigobba-3" and "Salaga".

Later on, the Garuda Gamana Vrushaba Vahana, Madagaja, Badava Racal and the Rider’ films also did well at the box-office and attracted huge audiences despite Omicron fears.One of the most anticipated events for the next year is the release posthumously by J.S., the wildlife documentarian and filmmaker J.S.Amoghavarsha and the commercial film James, which is directed by Chetan Kumar are also highly anticipated."Gandhada Gudi" is also expected to be a success at the national level.

Producers and actors now focus more on pan India presentations and broadening the scope of their films.The Kichcha Sudeep starrer, KGF-2, will be the next pan-Indian movie.

The Anup Bhandari directed directorial will be the Kannada movie industrys biggest release in the coming year.Tollywoods Superstar Upendra is set to debut Kabja, which will be produced in five languages including Hindi.

Upendra will also release Home Minister, Trishulam and Lagaam in 2022.The huge screen has been used for Banaras, a film starring Zaid Khan, and Sonal Monteiro.

It will be released in Hindi and Tamil as well as Telugu, Telugu, and Malayalam.Jayatheertha is the director.

Rakshith Shetty is well-known for his experimental films.His latest film is titled 777 Charlie.It is about Charlie and his journey.

It will be available in Hindi, Malayalam and Telugu.Shettys Sapta Sagaradache Yello has generated a lot more curiosity than the movie and will most likely be a hit nationally.

Director Prem has his latest experiment ready for him with the newcomers, Ek Love Ya. Rishab Shetty will rock with ’Bell Bottom 2’.Superstar Darshan has been quietly working on Kranthi.The actor will be expanding the Kannada film industrys footprint after the Telugu success story of Robert.

Dhruv Sajas "Martin", Abhishek ambareesh’s “Bad Manners”, Niranjan’s ‘Super Star”, Dr Shivarajkumar’s ‘Veda”, Srimurali’s “Bagheera” and Darling Krishna’s „Love Mocktail 2” are among the most awaited Kannada movies in 2022.Umesh, an actor and film producer, spoke to IANS about the steady rise in pan-Indian projects being led by Kannada cinema.He stated that there is still potential for content-oriented movies, noting that Karnatakas number of theatres has dropped to 650-675 from 1.700.I owned three theaters.They had to be closed.

"It is hard to compete with multiplexes, and after digitization theaters are struggling," Banakar stated.Ba.Ma.Harish, a former secretary of Karnataka Film Chamber of Commerce explained that the Kannada movie industry has been buzzing even after Covid-19s return."KGF-2" and "Vikrant Royana" are ready for pan-India rollouts, and newcomers have taken up large projects.Harish stated that the Kannada film industry would soon have a level playing field with their Telugu Tamil, Malayalam and Malayalam counterparts.

Kannada films are making their way onto OTT.Dhananjay’s Ratnan Prapancha’ was Dhananjay’s first Kannada movie to be released on OTT.It received a positive response.OTTs most popular movies were Love Mocktail, Diya, Ikkat, & French Biryani.
