The Supreme Court Collegium has recommended to the Union Government to appoint Justice Satish Chandra Sharma as the Chief Justice (CJ) of the Telangana High Court.Justice Satish Chandra Sharma is currently the Acting Chief Justice of the Karnataka High Court.
Justice Himakohli, who was the current Chief Justice of the Telangana High Court, has been promoted to the post of Supreme Court Judge.
According to credible sources, the Supreme court Collegium has recommended the appointment of Justice Sharma as the next CJI of the Telangana High Court.
Initially, the Union govt will approve this recommendation, and then it will send the recommendation to the President.With the President’s approval and the publication of the Central Judicial Gazette, Justice Sharma will be sworn in as the Chief Justice of the Telangana High Court.
The Supreme Court has recently decided to increase the number of judges in the Telangana High Court from 24 to 42.Of these, 28 will be selected by the bar council and the remaining 14 from the Judicial Services.According to reliable information, the Supreme Court Collegium has recommended names from the respective quotas to increase the number of judges.
