USA coach: Jr. Hockey World Cup will serve as a step stone for our team

The USA Junior Hockey World Cup-2021 is a stepstone for young American players, said Coach Pat Harries on Thursday.

The USAs boys must make the best of what they have.In a country where hockey isnt a professional sport, and the women get the most resources, Harries stated that it is difficult for players to make a living playing hockey.

They are therefore involved in other activities, Harries added.The USA coach spoke out about the preparations for the World Cup.Just nine to ten days preparation was required before the tournament.Because no one lives close together, there wasnt a centralised camp program.

He said that many of them were students and had attended a training camp before they traveled to India.I want to help our boys.

My goal is to see more experienced players lead and mentor our younger players.Younger players will gain valuable experience during the tournament.

The tournament will serve as a stepping stone to the rest of the team," the coach said.Jatin Sharma, the team captain, agreed with the coach and informed the coaches that he was studying economics in business management, while the other boys were attending high school.

We have taken the tournament seriously, and we have many aspirations to participate in it.Jatin stated that it is a great step-stone for them.The presence of Harendra Singh (USA senior mens coach), who will be with the junior team here, is expected to give both the coach and captain an edge.

His first-hand knowledge of Indian players and conditions is invaluable to the team.USA Field Hockey brought Harendra to their team earlier in the year, having previously coached Indias Junior World Cup champions.

On Thursday, the USAs junior hockey team arrived at Bhubaneswar for the FIH ODHa Hockey Men’s Junior World Cup 2021.It will take place from November 24 through December 5.The US team includes five players of Indian origin, including captain Jatin Singh.Mehtab Grewal and Gurcharan Johal are the other Indian players on the US team.Amrinderpal Sing is the goalkeeper.
