Jr Hockey World Cup: FIH App, site crash ahead India-France match

Bhubaneswar : The International Hockey Federations (FIH), preparations for the live broadcasting of the FIH Odisha Hockey Mens Junior World Cup proved inadequate as their mobile app (app) crashed just before the India versus France match because of heavy trafficStar Sports, the official rights holder of all FIH events, took over live broadcast of the event from December 1.

With the start of the knockouts FIH had made it clear that India was not restricted by geographical barriers.

FIH also decided to make the matches available on Watch.Hockey and its website.

It seemed that FIH and NAGRA, a Kudelski Group Company and the worlds largest independent provider of multiscreen video solutions and content protection, were completely unprepared for the massive traffic.Lakhs of Indian fans tried to log in to the app and website to see live information about the match.

The site crashed, and no one could view the match live or receive live updates.The problem started in the morning when many people tried to log into the app, but couldnt access the live video.

Although things were quickly resolved and people could view the Belgium versus South Africa match and other matches that day, things got a lot worse in the evening when people began logging in in large numbers in advance of Indias match with France.The site and app went down, with viewers seeing only a blank screen and old content "We are waiting for feedback from our partner about what the issue is."We will follow up once that is done," an FIH spokesperson said to IANS in response a question about the live broadcasts problem.bsk/c #Hockey #World #crash #IndiaFrance #match.
