JMM protests the relocation of Tata Group’s offices in another state

Ranchi, November 18 : The Tata Group of Companies is under the fire of Jharkhand Morcha.

It has made several demands including a 75% reservation for locals at its establishments throughout the stateOn Wednesday, the JMMs five MLAs protested along with the locals the relocation of Tata Motors headquarters and Tata Cummins Company Headquarters to Pune.

The demonstrations lasted between 10 and 12 hours, with thousands of protestors demonstrating at the offices of various companies from Jamshedpur through Chaibasa.The companys iron mines were affected by the demonstrations.

JMM warned that the one-day protest is just a temporary demonstration.If the company refuses to comply with the demands, further protests may be organized.

JMM has referred to the agitations as "Hudka Jam" Opposition to the transfer of Tata Cummins registered office and Tata Motors registered office from Pune is by the party.According to the party, it intends to eliminate thousands of employment opportunities for locals.

Jamshedpur saw thousands of protestors led by JMM MLAs blockade the main gates to Tata Steel, Tata Motors, and Tata Cummins for twelve hours Wednesday.The main entrance to Chaibasas mine was closed from early Wednesday morning through late at night.

With banners and flags, hundreds of JMM workers were seen gathered at the railway sidings and main gates.The stir caused serious disruption to iron ore loading and unloading.

Sukhram Oraon, MLA said that the Jharkhand government had decided to provide 75 percent jobs for the residents of Jharkhand by requiring all private businesses located within the state to offer locals at least 75%.This compulsion has been avoided by shifting the Tata Motors headquarters and Tata Cummins to Pune (Maharashtra).Ramdas Soren (Sanjeev Sardar), Mangal Kalindi and Samir Mohanty were the MLAs that led the Jamshedpur protest.

Tata Cummins, however, has released a statement stating that they are only moving their registered office.This will not impact the operation of the companys Jharkhand and Jamshedpur offices.

All labour laws are followed by the company.The statement added that "we are completely committed to carrying out our business at Jamshedpur.
