J&K’s ‘Toshkhana’ is put under the control of administrative of Dept of Culture

Srinagar the 18th of August : The J&K Administrative Council, which met on Thursday under direction of Lieutenant Governor Manoj Sinha, approved the transfer of the administrative control of the "Toshkhana" department from the Hospitality and Proposal Department to the Department of Culture.

In Jammu the items of Toshkhana were stored in the Mubarak Mandi Heritage Complex, while the items in Srinagar have been stored in an locker at Saddar Treasury.The transfer of control of administration of the Toshkhana to the Department of Culture will synchronise its operation with the Department of Archives, Archaeology and Museums under the Department of Culture, and the public will get better information about their culture.

The council also approved the transfer of the posts that were sanctioned and the employees of the Toshkhana to the Department of Culture along with all documents and immovable/moveable property," an official press release read.sq/ar.
