Srinagar 16 August : Jammu and Kashmir Lieutenant Governor Manoj Sinha attended the Jashn-e-Dal program to commemorate the 75th anniversary of Independence under the ‘Azadi ka Amrit Mahotsav’ that was held at the shores of the famous Dal Lake at Nehru Park.On the occasion the Lieutenant Governor offered five resolutions to preserve the environment, protection of the ecological heritage.
Noting that there has been an the increase in population, which has led to encroachment, and the degradation of water resources The Lieutenant Governor emphasized Janbhagidari, effective coordination, anti-encroachment campaign and a short-term plan of the next five years and a longer-term plan of 25 years are necessary to “restoring the former glory of our rivers and lakes”.
The Lieutenant Governor stated that Prime Minister Narendra Modi started Mission Amrit Sarovar under the Azadi Ka Amrit Mahotsav to bring back lakes, rivers, and ponds which are an integral element of society and are “essential to the existence of our society”.
The influence of “Jan Bhagidhari” has led to tangible shifts in the quality of life in the vicinity of our famous water bodies.”Today, Dal is cleaner than it was before.The public’s focus has now changed to the rebirth of Gilsar as well as Khushalsar Lake,” he added.
A thrilling Shikara event with performances that reflected the rich tradition of Jammu Kashmir remained the main event of the Jashn-e-Dal festival that was held under the Azadi ka Amiri Mahotsav.
