Auckland, November 23rd : , Former New Zealand wicketkeeper Ian Smith has expressed dissatisfaction with the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI’s) decision to not rest Virat Kohli, Test skipper, for the first game against Kane Williamson-led Kanpur side on November 25. Virat was rested and Ajinkya Rahane will take charge in Virat’s absence.
The regular captain will be back for the second Test at Mumbai, which will begin December 3.
Smith (60), who played 63 Tests with the Black Caps, scoring over 1800 runs, was also upset that Rohit Sharma has been rested for two of the three-Test series.
Smith said that India has left out Sharma and Kohli, which intrigues him.”Sen.com.au’s Tuesday report on Tuesday was disappointing.
Smith stated that New Zealand should have three spinners for the Kanpur Test because of the unique sub-continental pitch.
Smith also identified the 11 players that he’d like Kane Williamson to captain in the first Test.
Smith said, “You have to have Neil Wagner so that when you get into trouble, he will try to help you out with his stamina,” indicating that Smith wants the fiery pace-bower to be able to deliver longer spells in order to upset the Indians.
