Fatorda, Goa, Nov 28 : .Chennaiyin FC will be looking to continue their momentum against NorthEast United FC in their second 2021-22 Indian Super League match at PJN stadium here on Monday. “It is important for mentality, confidence, and mentality to start [the campaign] off with three points.We know we need to be more aggressive and win more duels.We must be stronger in that area.”We have confidence and know what we can achieve,” Bozidar Bandovic, Chennaiyin FC’s head coach, said to the media at a pre-match press conference.
Two-time ISL champions Hyderabad FC won 1-0 in the opener last week, with Vladimir Koman scoring from the spot.
Koman, the man of the match, was there to support the head coach during the press conference.He said that the win in the first match had boosted the players’ confidence.”I hope that this first win gave confidence the players.It’s always nice to score in the first game, but it’s even better if your team wins.Koman said.
“I believe we will go with confidence in the second match.I have seen my team play in friendly games and I know what I can do.We respect our opponents, but we also know what to do on the field,” said the attacking midfielder.
Although NorthEast United have yet to open an account in the current season, Bandovic is well aware of the challenges ahead and doesn’t want to let his team take any risks.
“It is not an easy game for me.They [NorthEast United] did very good last season.Mental preparation is key.Players must be disciplined and able to focus in every game.If you allow them to be dangerous, everything can be dangerous.Bandovic stated that the way you approach the game, and the way you play it, makes it easier.
Chennaiyin FC will be without Rafael Crivellaro (midfielder), who is recovering from a muscle injury and will be out of action for four weeks.The head coach believes that each player has a role to play.
“Rafa [Rafael] has been an important player.We must help him recover as quickly as possible.As I stated in interviews, my team doesn’t depend on one player.I will continue to repeat the same thing.We must continue to work without him.Everyone’s role is vital and they all know what they need (for the team),” Montenegrin concluded.
The last encounter between Marina Machans & The Highlanders was played during the last season.It ended in a 3-3 draw.LallianzualaChhangte scored an impressive brace.The league has seen 14 matches between the teams, with Chennaiyin FC winning three times and NEUFC winning six.
