Margao : , Nov 21, 2017 – In a fierce contest, SC East Bengal lost 1-1 to Jamshedpur FC during a match in the 2021-22 Indian Super League, (ISL) played at the Tilakmaidan Stadium. Both sides were defeated tactically as the goals were scored from set-pieces.
Franjo Prce, a Croatian defenseman (17′), scored a charming opener for Red and Golds.Peter Hartley (45+3’) was equalized at halftime for Men of Steel.
Jose Manuel Diaz began in the classic 4-4-2 with Hira Montal and LalrinlianaHnamte making ISL debuts for SC East Bengal.Jamshedpur FC had a familiar appearance with Jordan Murray and Greg Stewart on the bench.
Two young players stood out in the first few exchanges.Boris Singh was a strong player for Jamshedpur, while Hnamte made a good start for Kolkata.
Franjo Prce, the center back, was the one who found the opening.Bikash Jaiu hit a shot from the corner which Rehenesh TTP was able to stop.
Antonio Perosevic brought the ball back in play to allow Hnamte, who laid it in for Prce’s back-volleyed attempt.
Jamshedpur was eager to win back the ball and Nerijus Valskis made it clear that he would press ahead.
Valskis was unable to score until the end of the first half, when his shot missed the target.
Peter Hartley stayed with it until the end of the first half to even out scores.
Alex Lima’s flag kick saw Valskis pass it to his captain, who seemed to have passed the ball past Arindam Bhattacharya.SC East Bengal had to regret their defensive mistake.
Valskis was given a boost by the introduction of Komal Thatal and Ishan Pandeita in the second period.After Ishan’s goal, the Lithuanian player had his chance saved by Arindam (last season’s Golden Glove Winner).
Diaz even tried to substitute.Amir Dervisevic, Jackichand Singh and young Hnamte were replaced around the hour.
With 20 minutes remaining, Murray was called in to replace Valskis.However, both sides displayed remarkable discipline during the second period.
Jamshedpur, however, was becoming more favourites and could not present a serious threat.
SC East Bengal will next take on arch-rivals ATK Mohun Bagan at the Kolkata derby, which takes place at this exact ground on Saturday.
