Goa, Nov 25, : FC Goa & Jamshedpur FC will be looking to win their first match in the Indian Super League 2021-22 match at Athletic Stadium Bambolin here Friday. Juan Ferrando spoke to the media before the game, in the pre-match press conference.
He shared his thoughts about the performance of the last game as well as the team’s future plans regarding the young players.
Juan Ferrando named a relatively inexperienced backline for the season-opener.
Leander D’Cunha, Sanson Pereira and Papuia were the ISL’s second ISL starters.Ferrando encouraged patience with the children, even though the trust may not be completely reaffirmed.
“I trust Leander, I believe in Papuia, and I have faith in Sanson, to be honest.Ferrando said that although they don’t have much experience, they can only gain that experience by playing.
“Of course, we lost, and I don’t want to make excuses for that.Although my plan was not successful, I still trust these players.
These players should be available to FC Goa if they need them.
“I can understand the concern about lack of experience.
As head coach, my greatest job is to help them.They are our future.Their performances were not great.We need to do more and give them their chance.
“If there are still faults, it is the fault of the head coaches.We must work together to overcome individual mistakes and learn from them.
“It wasn’t so easy (to digest) the result.My point of view was that our performance in the first match was poor.Ferrando stated, “But now I am only thinking of tomorrow.”
“We are working hard on our plans and our style.Our performance against Mumbai was not great.It’s important to learn from this, but we must now concentrate on the next game.That is what I believe is the most important thing.We are not happy, but that is football.Tomorrow is a new challenge.The most important thing is to keep your eyes on tomorrow’s game.
The season-opener loss was the fifth time Goa has been beaten by three goals since the start of 2017/18 season.Ferrando also spoke out about the areas where he felt the team needed improvement.
“When we lose the ball in transitions, it’s important that we are more compact between the lines.Ferrando said that it is important to control the spaces when we are in attack and build-up.”If we lose the ball, it’s very important to press immediately because the opponent has lots of space.”
