Isl 2021-22: Bagan Cruise To 3-0 Win Against Old Rivals East

The Mariners won the 100-year-old rivalry 372nd edition 123 times, moving closer to the Red and Golds’s 129 victories.

East Bengal began with four recognized center-backs.

ATK Mohun Bagan, however, had none in their playing team.AFC Ajax academy graduate Darren Sidoel made East Bengal’s first start when Daniel Chima was dropped.

Antonio Habas chose to enter with the same side as the Kerala Blasters on opening day.

SC East Bengal was the brightest right from the whistle. They even tried the Bagan defense with an early corner kick, almost unaware of the approaching storm.

Bagan scoured the right channel to score two goals in just 100 seconds.

Manvir first found Pritam Kolal through, who scored the first goal into the box.The dangerous Roy Krishna was not marked and the Fiji international could swing a right-footer past Arindam’s far side to break the deadlock in just 12 minutes.

Manvir, the architect of the first goal was quick to put his side two up.Fresh from the European Championship, Joni Kauko used SC East Bengal’s Achilles Heel to his advantage — their left side in the defense.Kauko gave it to Manvir inside the box, who hit home, this time on Arindam’s nearside.

The deal was concluded in the 23rd minutes.

Liston Colaco grabbed his spoon and joined the feast.Arindam unfortunately stepped on the edge of the 18-yard box, but he only spit his collection.

Liston gathered the pieces and, with an empty net at the angle, added the third goal for the night.

Arindam was soon forced to be removed as he was badly injured.

Jose Manuel Diaz also added Amarjit Singh Kiyam to the mix.SC East Bengal seemed a bit lost as the Mariners continued to pile on the attacks. There were some great chances.

With less than half an hour to go, the Red and Golds had exhausted their five changes.

Adil Khan, Amir Dervisevic, and Chima were all brought in, but the class gap was wide.

Kauko was a key part of ATKMB’s plan to dictate play from midfield, while his teammates kept on losing chances to extend their lead.Suvam Sen, a substitute goalkeeper, was impressive.

SC East Bengal would be happy that ATKMB didn’t find the backside of the net on more occasions, as the Red and Gold defense put on a miserable show Saturday night.

ATK Mohun Bagan, with two wins in two games, jumped to the top, two points ahead of Jamshedpur FC.They will be playing in the same final as last season, with Mumbai City midweek, while SC East Bengal plays Odisha FC next.
