New Delhi, Aug 30 : National Highways Logistics Management Limited (NHLML) and Katra Development Authority have collaborated for the construction of Inter-Modal Station in Katra to improve the travel experience of pilgrims who go to Mata Vaishno Devi Temple. “Improving Passenger Infrastructure Development across the country, was the focus of the MoU signing ceremony between NHLML and Katra Development Authority,” Union Road Transport and Highway Minister announced on Tuesday, as an memorandum of agreement (MoU) was signed by the two agencies.
In the course of the project, Inter Modal Station is being built in Katra to enhance the experience of pilgrims visiting Mata Vaishno Devi Temple.The Government, under the leadership of the Prime Minister Narendra Modi is working on Inter Modal Stations across the nation to improve the infrastructure for passenger development across the country,” said the Minister.
The Inter-Modal Station (IMS) will be an infrastructure for terminals that will integrate diverse transportation modes of road, rail and air (helipad) buses taxis, auto rickshaws and private vehicles into one hub to facilitate seamless transportation of individuals from one mode to the next.
Additionally, it will result in the growth of commercial infrastructure, which will increase the potential for tourism of the area, as well as aiding in enhancing the socio-economic picture of Katra as well as its adjacent areas.
