Intel Meteor Lake chip delayed until 2024. TSMC delays 3nm expansion The report

New Delhi, Aug 6 : The mass production of chip maker Intels next major flagship processor Meteor Lake is expected to be delayed until 2024, a report been published.

Recently the products mass production schedule has been delayed until 2023.of 2023 due to some reasons "completely eliminating 3nm capacity that was originally scheduled in 2023 with only a small amount of wafer input left to ensure engineering quality".

Intel has announced earlier in the year that Meteor Lake would be "powering on" this summer, and will be available in 2023.The incident "greatly affected TSMCs production growth plan which has resulted in Apple becoming the only company in the initial generation of 3nm process customers from 2H22 through 2023 with products like M series chips as well as A17 Bionic" The report noted.

In light of this, TSMC has decided to slow down the pace of its expansion of production.In addition, TrendForce will inform suppliers of equipment of the companys plan to alter 2023s equipment orders due to the cost of 3nm technology, TrendForce expects that this change will also impact certain areas of the TSMC CapEx plan for 2023.

Apples brand new 2024 iPhone is expected to fully incorporate 3nm processors "If Intel 4 fails to produce in the manner it was planned, Intel may outsource its computing tiles to TSMC which will drive expansion in 2024." the report said.Intel experienced an increase of 25 percent in sales of consumer chips in the second quarter together with revenues of $15.3 billion.This was a decrease of 22 percent year-over- the previous year (YoY).The companys profits plummeted as it lost half billion dollars in the period between April and June109% decrease in profits from $5.1 billion it made in Q2 of last year.na.
