Inflation not red lettered prioritization: Sitharaman (Ld)

New Delhi, Sep 7 : Union Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman Wednesday stated inflation is not an "red written" priority, as it has cooled in the past few weeks.

She further stated she believes that India is taking over the G20 presidency in difficult times, where supply chains across the globe have been damaged and geo-political dynamics are in flux.Sitharaman stated that uncertainties in the energy industry were a cause of anxiety for the Centre "There are huge concerns about the availability of natural gas, crude and coal because of the war between Russia and Ukraine," she said.

Sitharaman stated that, like the majority of nations, India too will have to rely on coal more in the near future because of global uncertainty and disruptions to supply chain.The Finance Minister has said that Indias plan for shifting to renewable energy sources has received a boost and methods to reduce dependence on coal and return to sustainable energy sources, must be considered as devices.

On the subject of policy, she further said that the National Infrastructure and Investment Fund (NIIF) must be stronger.The Union Minister stated that the government was eager to introduce the Data Protection Bill.
