After beating Anders Antonsen from Denmark in Sunday’s final, Kento Momota of Japan won the title for Indonesia Masters singles badminton tournament. Antonsen was defeated by the 27-year-old with his high-octane game.He won a decisive 21-17, 21-11 win in 49 minutes.
Momota’s first World Tour title, he won it after a nearly fatal car accident in January 2020.
An Se-Young defeated Japan’s Akane Nagachichi in the final of the women’s singles.Yamaguchi had previously defeated PV Sindhu from India.
In a dramatic contest, the seeded South Korean shuttler won 21-17, 21-19.
Hoki Takuro, Kobayashi Yugo and Marcus Fernaldi Gideon won the men’s singles.
It was a thrilling match, with Hoki Takuro beating Kobayashi and 21-11.The Japanese pair won their first ever match against Gideon or Sukamuljo, and took home the BWF World Tour Super 750 trophy.
Japan continued its dominance in women’s doubles, as Matsuyama Nai and Shida Shiharu beat South Korea’s Jeong Naeun and Korea Kim Hye Jeong 21-9 and 21-11.
After Watanabe/Higashino lost in the semi-finals against Tang Chun Man of Hong Kong and Tse Ye Suet, the mixed doubles final featured no Japanese representatives.
The final saw the Tang and Tse defeated by Sapsiree Taerattanachai and Dechapol Puavaranukroh, with the Thai pair winning 21-11 and 21-12.
