India’s October YoY retail sales fell due to supply shortage and cost pressures. FADA (Ld).

New Delhi, November 18th : .In October 2021, India saw a decrease in vehicle sales due to a combination of inflationary pressures and supply problems.

On a more sequential basis however, total vehicle retail sales in September 2021 were higher than 12,962,257 units.Similar to last month, the overall retail sales figures for October 2019, which was pre-pandemic, saw a decrease of 26.64 percent.The total vehicle retail sales in October 2019 stood at 18,6098 units.Retail sales fell by 1.8% to 20,90893 during the 42-day festive period in 2021, compared with the same period last year.The YoY decline in passenger vehicle retail sales from October 2020 to November 2020 was 11.38 percent.Last months PV retail sales fell to 228,431 units from the 257,756 units that were sold in the same month last year.The two-wheeler registrations fell 6.07 percent to 9,96,000.24 units.Similar results were seen in tractor retail sales, which fell 20.78% to 44 262 units.We have seen the most severe festive season since last decade.

FADA President Vinkesh Gulati stated that the semi-conductor shortage, which had already become a serious crisis, showed its true colors when, despite a healthy demand for vehicles, we couldnt meet customers needs.SUV, Compact-SUV, and luxury vehicle categories were all hit with a severe shortage.

On the contrary, demand for entry-level cars was subdued as people in this segment continued to save money because of their healthcare costs.Low sales continue to be a problem for the 2W segment, with the entry-level category continuing to suffer the most.
