Indian Textile Inc rolls out red carpet for UAE and rest of the world

Dubai, Nov 28, : Indian textile leaders rolled out the red carpet for investors from the UAE, and other parts, in an invitation to them to be a part of the country’s textile success story.
A global investor summit was held as part of Expo 2020 Dubai’s ongoing ‘Textile Week’.

Government representatives and industry stakeholders highlighted Dubai as a great platform to help the Indian textile industry target the Middle East (MENA) and beyond.

Participants discussed the potential of India’s textile sector and deepened their engagement with the UAE and other countries.

Speakers stressed the strong relationship between India and UAE and said that the UAE is a preferred destination due to its strategic location.This was in addition to the strong cultural and trade ties.

Vijoy Kumar Singh, India’s Additional Secretary for Textiles, stated in his inaugural address: “Dubai offers a tremendous potential to the Indian sector of textiles.We have a strong textile manufacturing sector that employs many people and a strong exporting base.

We are working with the PLI scheme to promote the production and export of high-quality Man-Made Fibre fabrics, garments and technical textiles.

“We are also working towards organising our textile sector with help of the PM Mega Integrated Textile Scheme which will assist us in meeting global levels of sustainability,” he said while hailing India’s new PM Mega Integrated Textile Region and Apparel Parks scheme (PM MITRA), which was launched with a Rs 4,445 crore ($600 billion) outlay to build 7 mega-textile parks.

This scheme aims to create a modern, integrated large scale, world-class industrial infrastructure, including plug ‘n play facilities.

Jay Karan Singh (Trade Advisor, Ministry of Textiles), stated in a special address: “The Indian textile industry focuses on creating reliability and maintaining quality, as well as ensuring sustainable development.”

In his keynote address, Dr Aman Puri, Consul General of India in Dubai, highlighted strong relations between India and the UAE as well as the potential to take advantage of Dubai’s strategic position for the Indian textile industry to expand internationally.

“The UAE and Indian business entities have made it possible for trade and commerce to grow with this region through their connection.

He said that Indian businessmen in this sector should look at Dubai as a platform for their entrepreneurial journeys and global expansion in MENA and beyond.
