Chennai 7 September : Indian rocket maker Agnikul Cosmos has said it has been granted a patent by the Indian government for its design and manufacture of single-piece rocket engines.
Agnikul has recently announced the opening of the Rocket Factory- 1, Indias first ever rocket facility that is devoted to 3D print these rocket engines on a large scale.It is located in the IIT Madras Research Park.
Commenting on the patent Srinath Ravichandran, Co-founder & CEO, Agnikul said: "Rocket engines typically comprise thousands of components in them, starting with injectors that pump fuel into the engine, the cooling channels which allow the engine to cool, and finally the igniter, which is required for the ignition of propellants." "Designing Agnilet as a single piece of hardware hasnt been an easy task however, our team has proven its not.This patent is testimony to the world-class designed-in India and made-in India deep-tech engineering Agnikul Agnikul team can offer," he added.Agnikul has received a total investment of the sum of Rs 100 crore ($15 million) from Mayfield India, pi Ventures, Speciale Invest, and numerous of other investors, including notable angel investors such as Anand Mahindra and Naval Ravikant from the beginning of 2019.vj/dp.
