Ahmedabad August 31, : A Indian was arrested by Pakistani agencies in 1994 and given a life-long imprisonment by a judge for espionage was released and was reunited with his family after 30 years.Kuldeep Yadav (59) has been released by the Pakistan Supreme Court, after the expiration of his sentence of imprisonment in 2021.
He is seeking financial assistance from the Government of India and other citizens.
After completing his degree from Sabarmati Arts and Commerce College in Ahmedabad and then pursuing an LLB course Kuldeep began looking for jobs in 1991, when a few people reached out to Kuldeep with an invitation to “work for the country”.
“In 1992 I was deported to Pakistan after having served for two years in foreign territory.I was planning to go back in June of 1994.
However, before I made it back to my homeland I was seized by Pakistani agencies and brought before an indictment.For two years I was interrogated by different agencies,” he told IANS.
In his account of his experience, Kuldeep said in 1996 that in 1996, the Pakistan court convicted him of life imprisonment for the crime of being a spy and sent him to Kot-Lakhpat Civil Central jail in Lahore.”There I had the opportunity to have a chat with late Sarbjeet the jail’s authorities.They were known to schedule meetings every fortnight.Up until the time of Sarabjeet’s demise, Pakistani and Indian jail prisoners shared the in the same barracks.”
He was welcomed by Indian officials as well as his brother on the Indian side last week.”After serving for over 30 years, I’m now ‘Zero Batta Zero’ now and dependent on my his younger brother Dilip and my sister Rekha.The government should compensate me similar to retired soldiers.I too should be provided with agricultural land, a pension and land to build the construction of a house in order to build my new life.
As I approach the age of 59, there is no one who is going to employ me.I call on citizens to join me and offer support economically and socially.”
