India women lose to Chile 3-3; second consecutive loss in Brazil tournament

New Delhi, Nov 29, : .India lost 1-6 to Brazil in their opening match.

However, they showed good fighting spirit and fell to Chile in the second game of the Women’s International Football Tournament at Amazon Arena in ManausChiles Maria Urrutia, a striker, gave Chile a lead in the first half.However, two back-toback goals towards the end ended any Indian hopes of a comeback.

India made three changes in their starting line up from the match against Brazil, with M Lintoingambi Devi replacing Aditi Chuhan under the bar, and Martina Thokchom & Manisa Pana coming in for Kamala Devi & Dangmei Grace.Manisha Kalyan, the goal-scoring star in the game against Brazil, scored the first goal of the match.

She met an in-swinging corner in six minutes and directed it straight at Endler.Chile took over the game in the 12th minute and created their first chance.

Maria Rojas sent a low cross to Javiera Toro from the right.Javiera Toro attempted a back-heel score but was stopped by Linthoi.

Chile opened the scoring one minute later as Rojas moved down the right and found Urrutia.Urrutia scored with a first time finish.

The remainder of the half was uneventful as Linthoi and her defense kept the Chilean attack at bay using good organisation.Just as India seemed to be growing in stature in India, Chile scored twice in two minutes through substitute Isidora Martinez and Karen Araya to win the game.
