India, Sri Lanka, Maldives maritime operations to tighten security in Indian Ocean

Colombo, Nov 27, : , A two-day maritime operation was launched Saturday between India, Sri Lanka, and Maldives to increase security in the Indian Ocean.
“The Tri-lateral Focused Operations between India-Sri Lanka-Maldives began at sea from 27-28 novembre 2021.”The exercise under the aegis of Colombo Security Conclave, (CSC), is a pioneering effort towards collaboration efforts towards the Pillar of Maritime Security,” Indian High Commission to Colombo stated in a statement.

CSC Focused Operations aims to streamline Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs), and enhance interoperability between the three navies.

“The Indian Navy is represented in INS Subhadra Offshore Patrol Vessel, and P8I Long Range Maritime Patrol Aircraft.SLNS Samudura (and MNDF Maritime Reconnaissance Aircraft Dornier) are participating from Sri Lanka Navy.

The purpose of the two-day operation was to establish effective communication and establish a platform for coordinated maritime surveillance in each Exclusive Economic Zone.

The CSC was established to address common Security Challenges in the region during the 4th National Security Adviser Tri Lateral Meeting in November.

The Secretariat was also established in Colombo in February 2021.
