India is now ranked among the most developed countries as its sex ratio surpasses 1K mark

New Delhi, Nov 26th : India has entered the "league" of developed countries for first time since the sex ratio has surpassed the 1,000 mark.According to the National Family Health Survey, Indias sex ratio was reported at 1020:1000.This means that there are more females than men in the country.

"For the first-time, due to various actions taken for women empowerment such financial inclusion and for fighting gender bias and disparities," the survey revealed.It also noted that a sex ratio higher than 1,000 (female population) has largely been observed only in developed countries.

The surveys key indicators showed a significant improvement in the sex ratio of birth.The ratio at birth has increased from 919 in 2015-16, to 929 in 2019-20.According to the NFHS-5, 66.7 percent of married women use some form of family planning to delay or reduce pregnancies.This is compared to 53.5 percent in NFHS-4.This is a significant increase from the previous round.

Contraception is a preventative measure that reduces the risk of pregnancy-related health problems for women, particularly for adolescent girls.Properly planned intervals between births can prevent infant mortality, as highlighted by the NFHS-5.

Survey results indicate that family planning services are becoming more accessible in the country.Beneficiaries, mostly women, can choose the contraceptive methods to be used for spacing or limiting pregnancies.

The survey found that 78% of mothers received postnatal care within 2 days of giving birth in the country.This is a significant increase from the 62.4 percent in the NFHS-4.avr/pgh #India #ranked #developed #surpasses #Delhi.
