Sanjay Bangar believes that Rahane’s relief as vice-captain has reduced his burden.

Sanjay Bangar, a former India batting coach, has praised Ajinkya Rahane for his performance on Day 1, the Boxing Day Test in Centurion against South Africa.

He said that the veteran batter was a great player and came out firing -- even though he had been relieved from vice-captaincyRahane started off brilliantly on Day 1, the Boxing Day test.He remained undefeated on 40 and smashed eight limits.

In the last session, he also formed a vital 73-run partnership.He was not allowed to play in the team as he lost the Vice-Captaincy position of the Test Team in the run-up for the South Africa tour.

Rahane was however supported by the team management for the Boxing Day test.Sometimes, you can be relieved by certain events.

Bangar said that he is very positive about his footwork and has gotten rid of all the negative balls." Star Sports spoke to Bangar.

He is the type of player that likes quick and good starts.This was very much like Rahul Dravids way of starting his innings.
