IND v NZ: Ashwin and Iyer fight back (Lunch).

Kanpur, Nov 28, : Shreyas and Ravichandran Ashwin led the fightback for India in day four of the first Test at Green Park Stadium.New Zealand had taken four crucial wickets to leave the hosts in trouble.

The overnight score of 14/1 was the final score.India were expected to score quick runs, but New Zealands bowlers had other plans.

Although initially loose, the tourists quickly tightened their grips.In the 12th over, Kyle Jamieson took out Cheteshwar Pujara.

He had a short ball that went down leg and he gloved it behind to Tom Blundell.Ajinkya Rahane drove Ajaz Ptel through extra cover in 15 overs.

Patel got the last laugh when he caught Rahane in the wicket with a quick slider.Mayank Agarwal, ShreyasIyer each hit a streaky boundary until Tim Southee joined in the wicket-taking celebration.

Southee was rewarded in the 20th over for his persistent streak with a double-wicket maiden.Agarwal was first attracted to him by his nagging, and he forced a thick outer edge from his bat to the second slip.

He trapped Ravindra Jadeja with an inswinger for duck two balls later.Jadeja reviewed the ball, but replays showed that it crashed into Jadejas leg-stump.Ashwin and Iyer teamed up to rebuild the Indian cricket team, taking 51/5 in 19.4 runs.India knew that Ashwin and Iyers partnership must grow if they are to achieve a significant target for New Zealand.
