Mumbai, Nov 24, : Harbhajan Singh, former India off-spinner, believes that Rahul Dravid as the new head coach will bring stability to the team.He said that Dravid, Virat Kohli, and Rohit Sharma are capable of taking Indian cricket to new heights. Dravid made a great start to his coaching career with a win of 3-0 over New Zealand in T20Is.His first challenge will be to lead the Indian team to a Test series victory against New Zealand, who are currently the holders of the World Test Championship (WTC).
“See, it will take some time for everyone with this combination to adjust to the new things, new processes Rahul will bring to the table.I think the triangle consisting of Rahul, Virat Kohli, and Rohit Sharma is joined together.They should be working together to take Indian cricket to new heights.Rahul’s arrival will give players a lot more assurance,” Singh said on Star Sports’ ‘Follow The Blues’ show.
“Players will have good opportunities, there won’t any unfair treatment and they’ll be left out the team, they’ll be given proper chances and that’s what Rahul will bring to the table,” said Singh.Singh, who has played 103 Tests for India between 1998 and 2015, said that he will bring stability to the team.
Aakash Chopra, a former India opener, believes that Dravid and Kohli combination in Tests is a great idea as both value Test cricket very much.In the second Test against New Zealand, Kohli will be back as the captain of the Indian team.
“With Kohli see the fact Rahul Dravid commands respect, he does not demand it.If Rahul is there, there’s a natural feeling for respect for him.It’s because of his past achievements and who he is as an individual.It’s interesting to see that Test cricket is very dear to Rahul Dravid’s heart.The same can be said about Virat Kohli regarding Test matches.They just need to keep going in the same direction as the Indian cricket team.
