IND v NZ – All three results possible if we have good intent, says Ronchi

Kanpur, Nov 28, : , New Zealand’s fielding coach Luke Ronchi stated that all three possible results in the ongoing Test between India and New Zealand were possible if the tourists bat with good intention. After reducing India to 51/5 on day four, Ronchi admitted that it was difficult for his team to exert pressure on them.

New Zealand was 4/1 at stumps on day four with 280 runs to chase and nine wickets remaining on Monday.
“Obviously, it was difficult for us to take wickets.

We also put some pressure on their batters. However, I believe that all three results can be achieved if we bat with good intent and make the most out of scoring opportunities.

But, from the Indian perspective, they will be trying to stop us from doing so.Ronchi spoke in the virtual press conference.

“So, there isn’t a lot of turn in the surface and many assume the surface will play and hold up as it has.Ronchi, who was a New Zealand player before he became a coach for the national team, said that there is some variable bounce.

The current World Test Championship holders face a difficult task in achieving this feat.Since 1987 in New Delhi, West Indies has not chased more than 276 runs in the fourth innings.Ronchi responded to an IANS question and said that his batters will do well if they remain positive.

It’s all about being positive. It’s about being defensive and having attacking options to know if they miss where they want to bowl.We can defend them when they bowl good ball. It’s also about having a positive attitude and mindset that will help us get closer to chasing the total we need.

“I believe that’s a huge part of playing cricket here in India.

You can’t help but think about the balls that will make mistakes, and more often they don’t.We had to be more positive about our movements, scoring options, rotation strike, and take the game to them.

This will go a long way in getting the game down or batting as long tomorrow as possible.

Ronchi said that he hadn’t spoken to Will Young about not taking the review on schedule, which resulted in him not overturning Ravichandran Ashwin’s lbw dismissal just one over before stumps.

Young was given out by a low delivery and took a while to talk to his opening partner Tom Latham about taking a review.

Young demanded the ‘T” signal, but Young was already out of time and the review was denied.

Young and New Zealand were both disappointed by their inability to quickly review the ball, which was shown to have missed the leg-stump.

“I have not spoken to Young about this situation.

We were disappointed from our point of view.We were also disappointed when we saw the time on the big screen.

He did it after the time was up.It was a difficult moment, and we don’t want it to happen again.Ronchi concluded that although it was disappointing to see the situation from our perspective, it is possible to see that he actually did tell the truth after the timer was over.
