In the last four days, we disposed of 1,293 miscellaneous matters, regular issues: CJI

New Delhi, Sep 2 : Chief Justice of India U.U.Lalit on Friday announced that 1,293 miscellaneous issues and 106 regular issues and 440 transfer issues were resolved of by the Apex court in the past four days.
In his speech at a celebration event organized by the Bar Council of India, he stated that the apex court is putting more importance to the disposal of regular cases and said that the Secretary General had provided figures for the over the last four days indicate that 1,293 miscellaneous and transfer cases were cleared of as well as in the two previous days, 106 routine issues were taken care of.

The function was attended by Solicitor General Tushar Mehta, BCI members, representatives from the various states Bar Councils and members of Supreme Court Bar Association (SCBA).

The Chief Justice, in his thanksgiving to all the members of the state Bar councils, said he will try his best to meet their expectations, and that the supreme court will try to get rid of all the issues it could.

On August 26, Justice Lalit, speaking at the farewell party of Chief Justice N.V.Ramana organised by the SCBA and the SCBA, had stated that he will make the list of cases transparent and clear, a clear procedure to mention urgent matters before the respective benches, and one Constitution bench that is in operation all year.

On August 27 the 27th of August, President Droupadi Murmu took the swearing of the office of Justice U.U.Lalit as Chief Justice of India.

On August 13 14th, 2014 he was appointed to the highest court direct from the Bar.Chief Justice Lalit would be having only a brief term of under three months CJI.He will end his term on November 8.

Following the Chief Justice S.M.Sikri who was directly appointed from the Bar to the apex court Justice Lalit is the second CJI directly appointed from the Bar.Chief Justice Sikri was the 13th CJI from January 1971 until April 1973.

Chief Justice Lalit, who specialises in criminal law, was appointed an advocate of senior standing by the Supreme Court in April 2004.

He was appointed the public prosecutor special by the most prestigious court of the CBI in all 2G spectrum fraud cases.He was also working with the Attorney General Soli Sorabjee between 1986 and 1992.
