Kanpur (Uttar Pradesh), Nov 29, : .An undergraduate student of Indian Institute of Technology Kanpur (IIT-K), died after falling into the Ganga River at Ganga Barrage, Kanpur, while trying to take selfies. Sejal Jain, the deceased, was a second-year BS student at the IIT Kanpur in the Department of Earth Sciences.
Girish Pant, spokesperson for IIT-K, stated that during the initial investigation it was discovered that Sejal Jain and seven other students had been to the Ganga Barrage.
During their visit, Sejal Jain and seven other students had crossed the safety railing on the bridge to reach the ramp at the barrage gate.Sejal fell in the Ganga at Ganga Barrage accidentally while taking a selfie.
He stated that the Nawabganj Police Station had been contacted and that the police team was sent to the scene.A search team from the police entered the river to find Sejal Jain unconscious.
Sejal was taken to the Hallet Hospital, where she was declared dead.
